Test Material
Fish collagen powder supplied for filtration evaluation.
Experimental Procedure
Preparation
Clean all equipment using alkaline and acidic cleaning solutions.
Rinse thoroughly with purified water until pH reaches 7.0–7.5.
Install filter sheets in the filtration holder.
Flush filter sheets with purified water at approximately 50 L/m² before use.
Prepare fish collagen solution using a 1:1 ratio of collagen powder to purified water.
Filtration Process
Dissolve fish collagen powder in purified water at approximately 70°C.
Maintain the solution at 60–70°C with continuous stirring.
Measure initial turbidity and particle size distribution.
Filter the solution separately through SCP-335, SCP-336, and SCH-660 filter sheets.
Collect filtrate samples for analysis.
Perform an additional recirculation filtration test using SCP-335 filtrate.
Record filtration throughput, turbidity reduction, and particle size distribution before and after filtration.
Results
Filtration Performance Summary
| Filter Sheet | Filtration Rate | Clarity Improvement | Particle Removal Efficiency |
| SCP-336 | Good | Moderate | Good |
| SCH-660 | Moderate | Good | Very Good |
| SCP-335 | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent |
| SCP-335 Recirculation | Excellent | Outstanding | Outstanding |
Particle Size Analysis
Particle analysis indicated that the majority of insoluble contaminants were distributed between 1 μm and 1000 μm, with a significant concentration in the 50–300 μm range.
After filtration, all tested filter sheets reduced the concentration of large particles, while SCP-335 demonstrated the highest overall removal efficiency.
Turbidity Reduction
Filtration significantly improved solution clarity and reduced turbidity. The best results were obtained using SCP-335 with recirculation filtration.
Conclusion
- All tested filter sheets effectively reduced insoluble particles and improved the appearance of the fish collagen solution.
- SCP-335 provided the best balance of filtration efficiency, throughput, and particle removal performance.
- For enhanced removal of particles larger than 50 μm, a second filtration pass using SCP-335 or a two-stage SCP-335 filtration configuration is recommended.
- Particle size analysis confirmed that larger visible contaminants can be effectively removed through depth filtration, resulting in improved product clarity and quality.
